Financial astrology books and resources are precious commodities. A niche within a niche of both trading and astrology.
Susan Gidel, financial astrologer, began her day-job career as a financial journalist, so has publishing in her blood. Check out the books she has authored as well as the newsletters and blog she publishes.
A financial astrology special report is a focused, in-depth examination of a specific topic. More details than a quick-read newsletter. More time-sensitive, but less time-consuming than a book.
These financial astrology special reports reflect my curiosity about a topic, which I’m thrilled to share with you. If you have your own curiosities about what astrology can reveal about other financial topics, please let me know.
Lots of financial astrology books and resources exist that focus on the stock market and the general economy. But, finding information about financial astrology and the commodity markets is much tougher to come by. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands and write the book I had been searching for.
“Trading In Sync With Commodities—Introducing Astrology To Your Technical Toolbox” combines my expertise and passion for both the commodity markets and astrology into a book valuable to traders, investors and astrologers.
Written for those who might be unfamiliar with either commodities or astrology, the book includes “101” chapters on each topic, as well as an astrological glossary. Also, check out how financial astrology can help you discover which markets you might be most attuned to trading.
My main focus is on six major commodity futures markets—S&P 500, Gold, Soybeans, Crude Oil, Euro FX and U.S. 10-year T-notes—and their connection to astrological transits, the ever-changing position of planets in the sky.
To my delight, I discovered that each market showed tendencies to make important price highs and price lows when certain planets made certain connections to the horoscope chart cast for when each market began trading.
This breakthrough research in the commodity markets required having the exact first-trade time and date.
I obtained those dates and times with painstaking digging into exchange and news archives that sometimes revealed typos and errors in publicly available government documentation. But, this is where my Moon in Scorpio shines—digging deep to discover hidden secrets. Along with my 40 years of experience in the commodity futures industry, I was able to spot potential discrepancies in first-trade data in order to find true, accurate information, which is essential to first-class astrological analysis.
“What a gem of a book and valuable resource!”

During the dot.com boom of the late 1990s, I wrote a book that focused on stock index futures contracts available on exchanges globally, a product that had exploded since its introduction in 1982. Although the title sounded ambitious back in the day, the book always was and remains a great resource for understanding the structure of 42 stock indexes in 13 countries, and provides some great backstory on their beginnings along with annual volume through 1998.
From a financial astrology perspective, it’s great that I published the date that each of these indexes began trading. But, sadly, I didn’t realize at the time how valuable it would have been to also publish the time that trading began. I wish I still had all those file folders with my notes!
Every trader wants the edge, and I believe being aware of astrological energy is an edge that few exploit. My goal with the Red Letter Trading Days newsletter is to provide traders with
a heads-up on days when planetary cycles could influence market movement.
Not that financial astrology is the be-all, end-all when it comes to price forecasting. It definitely is not. But, I believe it adds value as a superior timing tool that traders can combine with their other favorite technical indicators to reach a trading decision.
The newsletter goes out the beginning of each month with an overview, a list of that month’s Red Letter Trading Days (headline in green for up days and red for down days), and my pick as the Top Red Letter Trading Day for the month. Plus, I review each month’s previous Top Red Letter Trading Day to see how it worked out! Then, I send a reminder email the day before each selected Red Letter Trading Day with an expanded narrative and a list of the day’s important reports worldwide.
You will begin receiving newsletter emails effective with the day you subscribe, and your subscription will automatically renew monthly on that date. You may cancel your subscription at any time by logging in at my website and managing your subscription. You will continue to receive the newsletter through your current subscription renewal date.
Each month, I pick out my favorite day astrologically and share its horoscope chart and my thoughts on it with subscribers to my email marketing list.
Typically, it’s the day that seems most inspiring or uplifting. And, hopefully, it helps you channel that great energy, too.

I’ve been a writer since grade school, when I began exchanging Pen pal letters with a girl my age in New Zealand. What fun it was to get a letter in the mail with Air Mail stamps!
My day-job career began with a college internship as a wire reporter covering the corn market at the Chicago Board of Trade, and I remained in the commodities industry my entire career as an editor, copywriter and marketing director.
All of which is to explain why it’s no surprise that I write the occasional blog article on random topics about astrology, the markets and the world. My blog also is where you’ll find back issues of the Red Letter Trading Days newsletter.
